How to Serve on State Boards and Commissions? We believe that our community leaders, experts and activities
have a vital role to play in setting the proper public policy discourse. The venue for such an objective is the many
state-wide commissions and boards created by either an executive order
of the Governor or by legislation. More than any other Governor, John
Corzine is committed to seeking out qualified candidates from all the ethnic
communities in NJ. This a rare opportunity for our voice to be heard and
our issues to be addressed.
There are boards and commissions on
almost every aspects of our public life, some very influential; others
of mere nominal significance. The urgency for our community to be part
of policy formulation cannot be underestimated. While communicating with
Ms. Andrea Martinez from the Governor's office, we again were asked to
facilitate transmission data on potential candidates to serve on a multitude
of commissions and board.
Our guesstimate is that fewer than ten Muslims
and Arabs serve in such a capacity and this dismal number is
disproportionate to our community's potential. We urge you to get
involved. You can send us your resume to
info@aafusa.org. Sending your
resume to us will ensure it is complimented with a introductory letter
from AAF. For more information on this topic, please visit the
State's official
website.
