Paterson: July 7, 2005: The American Arab Forum, AAF, joins good people around the world in denouncing today’s bombings in the City of London. The main targets of these vile and cowardly acts are innocent civilians. Our condemnations of these barbaric acts are universal and unequivocal. The American Arab Forum offers its sincere condolences to the people of Britain and to the families of the deceased and injured.  In times of these, it is necessary for good and decent people to stand firm against perpetrators of murderous and uncivil acts. No good reason can be possibly accepted as justification for attacks on innocent people.

We call on members of the Arab and Muslim community to be especially vigilant and careful about their surroundings, places of worship and employment, as they may be subject to hate-crimes consistent with past experiences after such horrific attacks.   We also plead with our fellow Americans not to castigate the entire Arab and Muslim communities for the crimes attributed a few individuals. The vast majority of our people are law-abiding and they are good citizens who desire no harm or ill brought against anyone.
Aref Assaf, AAF’s president, added, “The Arab and Muslim American community in New Jersey is outraged by these senseless bombings.  We categorically condemn this cold-blooded action and denounce any individual and groups who would commit such uncivil and unjustified acts of murder and inhumanity. Implicating the name of religion to justify such acts is most abhorrent and does a great disservice to Islam and Muslims worldwide.”
Mr. Assaf added, “We implore all people of good conscience to unite their efforts to reconcile their differences in a peaceful and just manner. Such acts of mindless violence in the name of religion will only fuel more hatred and bloodshed. A wrong act cannot be corrected by a similarly wrong and immoral reprisal. We do urge levelheaded leaders to engage in constructive and collaborative efforts to counter terrorism worldwide.”
